WORLD TOILET DAY - ROCA LISBOA GALLERY
RESEARCH
The research carried out supports the strong contribution to the Sustainable Development of societies and is implemented through the training of young researchers and the realization of projects for the creation of solutions and products for optimization the exploration and use of natural resources.
The focus on energy as a natural resource and the minimization of consumption needs is transported by the application of the regressive engineering process to the planning of the territory occupation and architecture projects framed in an approach of adaptation to a long-term environmental context.
WALL UP
The technical Wall project is a research about prefabricated structural wall, built with concrete, which interior accommodates the networks of the basic infrastructures – electricity, water, sewage, gas, ventilation, exhaust and telecommunications – connected by a unified solution to the public supply system. The Wall Up is already register as Patent.
ECOSTRUTURAL WALL
The research project with the aim to develop a prefabricated wall panel solution that combines sound insulation, hydrothermal and mechanical properties, ready to use in construction of single- family buildings, with application to low- cost housing in hot climates. The panel uses simple tool to connect all elements and compose a single modular house.
PROTOTYPES
GEOTPU.LAB develops its experiments through the construction of prototypes in association with the industry, responding in this way to the market needs and its choices to introduce a better management of natural resources.
MODULE FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING
The research project of GEOTPU.LAB is a part of continuous research line in the area of Architecture and Sustainable Construction, which aims to develop a prototype of flexible and adaptable housing, based on a modular system composed by prefabricated panels.
Since its inception in 2005, GEOTPU.LAB has been researching low-cost housing models that can be subjected to self-build processes, complemented by the training of future users. The need for global housing production is enormous and the benefits of its supply have impacts on public and environmental health and efficiency in the economic sector of societies. This topic has been the most common subject of research by PhD students based in GEOTPU.LAB and working in different parts of the planet.
LOW COST MODULE FOR
ADAPTIVE HOUSING
Despiece del módulo base (elaboración propia)
Tipologías de configuración de comunidades por la ACNUR (Adaptado de Corsellis y Vitale 2005)
MODULE FOR EMERGENCY HOUSING
The research project of GEOTPU.LAB is a part of continuous research line in the area of Architecture and Sustainable Construction, which aims to develop a prototype of flexible and adaptable shelter, based on a modular system composed by prefabricated panels, ready to serve in emergency situations, such as nature catastrophes.
OÉ-CUSSE STREET FURNITURE
GEOTPU.LAB, in collaboration with the governments of the countries with which it establishes training and collaboration protocols, develops research on the design and local production of materials adapted to the specific needs of the populations. In the case of East Timor and Cape Verde different pieces of urban furniture were designed and produced.
ECO
SYSTEM
ECO SYSTEM
The GEOTPU.LAB in the scope of its investigation and orientation in the formation of new researchers, developed a system of evaluation of the sustainability of the Construction, with the objective of certifying the level of sustainability of the performance of the buildings in its different components.
